Police find missing
man’s truck
Searchers looked for Richard Enslow,
who was last seen in July,
in Helemano Gulch
Honolulu police said new evidence has prompted them to ask for the public's assistance in the case of a missing Mililani man.
Family members said Richard A. Enslow, 28, had been home getting ready for work on July 22 and has not been seen since. He was reported missing Aug. 2.
However, on Monday police learned that the truck Enslow had been seen driving before he disappeared was found abandoned on Dole Plantation property near Helemano Gulch on July 30.
Police recovered stolen items inside and around the truck. The items were traced back to a July 30 break-in of a rental car at Kaena Point.
Police searched the area around Helemano Gulch for three days, including a helicopter search on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a ground search on Thursday.
"We had about 30 members of the specialized services unit down there, including mounted police, our K-9 unit and Annie the bloodhound," said Missing Persons Investigator Phil Camero. "(We) completed extensive ground and air searches in the area with negative results."
Camero said Enslow does have four outstanding warrants for his arrest totaling $11,250, and could be hiding to avoid capture. However, police do not have enough evidence to know for sure.
"We haven't ruled out that he is in danger," said Camero, urging anyone who knows Enslow or has seen him after July 30 to give police a call.
Camero said police did not learn about the abandoned truck until this week because Dole Plantation officials had put it in storage and tried to locate the owner of the vehicle themselves.
Enslow is described as 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, with a medium build, brown hair, blue eyes and "shark and dolphin" tattoos on his upper right arm.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Camero at 529-3394. Anonymous calls may also be made to CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
