The Bloomberg /
Star-Bulletin Index

The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Buoyed by rising oil prices that closed above $53 a barrel yesterday, oil and and natural gas exploration company Barnwell Industries rose 2.26 percent this week to lead the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index for the week.

Barnwell's stock closed at $47.55 yesterday.

In an otherwise tepid week on Wall Street, Bank of Hawaii managed a 1.79 percent gain, followed by Central Pacific Financial.

The remainder of the index managed to hold even for the week or lost ground. Hawaiian Airlines parent company Hawaiian Holdings dropped the most, falling 6.35 percent during the week to close at $5.90 yesterday.
