Former Washington Post columnist Lou Cannon will speak on "Reagan's Shadow: The Enduring Conservative Imprint on American Politics" at a luncheon Oct. 14 at the East-West Center.
Columnist George Will has called Cannon "Reagan's best biographer."
Cannon authored five biographies on President Ronald Reagan including, "President Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime."
He is also known for his social history of the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
Cannon is a contributing editor and chief executive of California Journal, a nonpartisan magazine. He also does freelance writing, reporting and lecturing on the presidency, the media, California politics and police issues.
Cannon was a reporter and columnist at the Washington Post for 26 years. His visit is part of the East-West Center's Fall 2004 Jefferson Fellowship.
The luncheon is open to the public at the East-West Center's Hawaii Imin International Conference Center, Garden level. Cost is $20; parking is $3.
