Northwest Airlines to try Alaska flights

Northwest Airlines will initiate flights between Anchorage, Alaska, and Maui and Ho-nolulu four times a week between Feb. 17 and April 3.

Northwest said it will fly the seasonal route with its 224-seat Boeing 757-300 planes. Flight 93 will fly from Anchorage to Maui and continue to Honolulu on Sundays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Flight 92 will make a return trip on the same days.

Hawaiian Air has passenger drop

Hawaiian Airlines was unseated last month from the distinction of having the fullest planes in the nation by low-fare carrier JetBlue Airways, only the second month this year that Hawaiian has not won the title.

Hawaiian's planes were 87.5 percent full last month, second to JetBlue at 89.3 percent, according to figures from Aviation Daily that were announced by Hawaiian.

Hawaiian said its passenger count fell 7.3 percent in August, despite otherwise solid results.
