Michelle Wie bounced back from Friday's 79 to shoot a 2-under-par 70 yesterday at the Waikoloa Open on the Big Island.


Wie rebounds from
rough start


WAIKOLOA, Hawaii » Michelle Wie fired a 2-under-par 70 yesterday to move into a tie for 18th place overall after two rounds of the Waikoloa Open on the Big Island.

The 14-year-old sophomore from Punahou School had carded a 7-over 79 in Friday's opening round of the 54-hole tournament.

Wie, Shannon Tanoue and two others stand tied at 5-over 149, three strokes behind championship flight leader Jacob Law. He is tied for sixth, four strokes behind overall leader Jerry Mullen.

Wie's last tournament appearance was at the LPGA Tour's Wendy's Championship for Children in August in Dublin, Ohio.

She is also slated to play next month at the LPGA's Samsung World Championship in Palm Desert, Calif.
