heat up Saturday night
SATURDAY is the night to head out this weekend, with a bunch of noteworthy events worth checking out.
Start the night off with some metal at Anna Bannana's, as 8mm Overdose performs alongside Dagra and Mister Meaner starting at 10 p.m.

IF TECHNO music is more your speed, pay a visit to Galaxy Nightclub on Kalakaua Avenue, when Bassick presents "Volume" for the all-ages crowd. Doors open at 10 p.m. for this one as well, and all ladies get in free before 11 p.m. Show up before midnight and you can get one extra person in free for every cover charge paid.
Among the DJs scheduled to spin on Saturday night: Big Daddy, Bite, G-Spot, Matthew Grim, IKON, Jaded, Lil' Ryan, Morbid K, Rundown, Spellbinder, Spyhunter, Technique and Vertigo.

UNDERGROUND hip-hop fans can get their fix at Studio 1 with Skumfux on Saturday night.
Making the trip from Los Angeles out to paradise are Radioinactive, Xololanxino and Antimc. All three are veterans of the scene in the City of Angels -- Radioinactive was a member of Log Cabin before collaborating with Antimc, while Xoloanxino is a member of the duo Of Mexican Descent with 2Mex.

OVER AT Club Pauahi, the monthly "POPular" party gets under way at 9 p.m.
All ages are welcome to come and join the fun, which also includes live art installations by The Happening and DJ Shane (who will also be spinning that night).
Also performing at "POPular" this month: My Ex is Dead, Megum Pie, The Manner and members of the Direct Descendants. DJs Kause and Subliminal will be there as well, joined by Omega 6 on the mic.

AND IF you're looking for a new spot on Saturday night, check out "The Vortex" at 1008 Kawaiahao St. There have been a number of under-the-radar events here over the past few months, but this is the first that appears to be promoted to a wider audience.
Described as a night of "subterranean psy-trance," the party will feature an international lineup of DJs, with Alphastate (USA), Assi (Israel), Charlie (UK), Trishi (India) and Upavas (Germany) all in the mix. A variety of live visuals and 3D artwork will also be on display.
