What qualifies you to be a state representative?
As a concerned citizen and small business owner, I have the tools to be part of the team to reform education, fight drugs, control spending and make affordable living a reality. I will listen to the people of my district.
What is the most pressing issue facing your district, and what would you do about it?
Many people in our district will not advance in our society without quality public education. The key to a bright future lies in strengthening schools, not the vast DOE bureaucracy.
Do you support or oppose Gov. Linda Lingle's plan to break up the statewide Board of Education? Explain.
It is critical to implement Gov. Lingle's plan to decentralize public education. We must devote our education dollars to the classroom and empower local school officials and teachers.

What qualifies you to be a state representative?
My 28 years of public service as a state representative. I will continue to strive and prepare Hawaii's economy for the challenges in this new century.
What is the most pressing issue facing your district, and what would you do about it?
The high cost of living in Hawaii and our senior citizens who are living on a fixed income. Addressing property taxes, the high cost of utilities and gasoline, the high cost of insurance. Crime.
Do you support or oppose Gov. Linda Lingle's plan to break up the statewide Board of Education? Explain.
I support Superintendent Hamamoto's approach in implementing educational reform that the Legislature passed last session. This year, we have 22 schools piloting the Legislature's educational reform ... that are going through a transformation.
