WEST OAHUMusician doesn't deliver in fund-raiser A local musician has snagged at least a dozen victims in a chicken sale scam, police said. The artist's name was not released. Police said tickets for "whole, golden-brown" chickens were sold for $7.50 each to residents in Aiea's Waimalu Shopping Center parking lot late last month. The funds were billed as going to a local musician, and chickens were supposed to be available for pickup at the shopping center Sunday. But when those with tickets arrived, there was no one cooking or selling chickens. The tickets said the chickens would be provided by Bob's Hawaiian Style Chicken Co. The company's owner, Bob Mauru, said last night that he never got the money for the chickens and so could not give the chickens out. He said he has received about 15 calls from residents who bought tickets and that 700 tickets had been prepared for the sale. It is unclear how many tickets were sold. Mauru said he has been unable to get in touch with the musician. Victims are asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 529-3950.
