of football poll

Kahuku is ranked 11th in the West Region of the latest Tony Poll football rankings, which were released Sunday.

The Red Raiders (2-1) finished in the top five of the Tony Poll national rankings a year ago after finishing 14-0 and winning the Division Istate title.

De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) dropped out of the national poll from No. 2 after its 151-game winning streak was snapped by Bellevue (Wash.) 39-20 last weekend. The Spartans are still No. 9 in the West Region.

New Cougars coach: Kaiser has a new softball coach, Deanedra Kahunahana, according to athletic director Ricky Shimokawa.

She replaces Ben Morn.

Kahunahana is a former Kaiser player who has had a lot of experience coaching in community leagues, Shimokawa said.

Two new Big Isle ADs: Keaau has a new athletic director --Iris McGuire.

She takes over for James Bertilacci, who is now a vice principal at the school. Ken Watanabe served in the AD post for a short while, before the permanent hire was made.

When asked how she likes her new job, McGuire said, "It's OK. Very busy, but I enjoy the kids."

Mike Hernandez is the new athletic director at Kealakehe.

Dave Aulik was the interim AD before Jimmy Kalaukoa left the permanent post.
