FREDALBA ROCKS THE WAVE: Cameras were rolling and the dance floor was packed Saturday as Fredalba shot footage for its first music video at the Wave Waikiki. Vocalist Eric Balfour, center, also known these days as Detective Christopher Gaines on NBC's new police drama, "Hawaii," proved himself a charismatic front man, while flautist Charmian Callon added an important melodic element and guitarist Tiffin "Rooster" Roley helped keep the music rooted in rock. Aside from an update of "When Doves Cry," the 65-minute set consisted entirely of original music from the group's album, "Uptown Music for Downtown Kids," or newly written material. Three of Balfour's "Hawaii" co-stars -- Sharif Atkins, Michael Biehn and Ivan Sergie -- stopped by to show their support but kept a low profile.
