Hawaii juniors place ninthHawaii finished ninth yesterday in the 36th Eddie Hogan Cup Team Matches at the Riverside Country Club in Portland, Ore.Southern California won the two-day tournament with a 436 total, four strokes better than the No. 1 Oregon team. The 36-hole even pits the best junior golfers from the Western United States and Canada against each other in a team format with the three low scores each day determining the team total. Hawaii carded a 455. Representing the 50th State were Travis Toyama (77-72--149) of Kaneohe, Chad Nonaka (77-76--153) of Lihue, Kellen Watabu (75-78--153) of Kapaa and Bret Netzer (78-80--158) of Kapaa.

Aloha Classic returns to HookipaThe Aloha Classic is back on the windsurf calendar at Maui's Hookipa Beach following a two-year absence. The event is set for Nov. 8-10.Aloha Entertainment has signed a three-year deal to produce the event, but Aloha Classic creator Paul Ehman has retained the television rights and has reached a deal with Fox Sports, according to a press release. "We want to bring the Aloha Classic back to its former glory and provide a venue for local sailors to show the world that Maui is the place to come and prove themselves," said Aloha Entertainment's Pietro Porcella.
