Dawn Amanda D'Estrada waited to receive her degree yesterday wearing a butterfly attached to her cap. About 770 UH-Manoa students received their degrees during the summer commencement, at which attorney and UH Foundation trustee Frank Boas was the keynote speaker.

Psychology major Loren Okimi was up to her ears with leis after the commencement at the Stan Sheriff Center. Friends and family members greeted the new grads afterward at Les Murakami Stadium.

Roland Davis gave the shaka sign after receiving bachelor's degrees in philosophy and music composition. The jazz musician, who was selected as class speaker, will continue his studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
