Miss Hawaii winners
plan a patriotic stage show


Former Miss Hawaiis and this year's titleholder Olena Rubin will perform in the Yun Tau Zane Scholarship fund-raising concert Aug. 25 at Rumours in the Ala Moana Hotel. Yun Tau was the first Miss Hawaii in 1948. This year's concert, "Hit Parade: Miss Hawaiis' Tribute to the '40s and '50s," will be a patriotic affair, honoring Hawaii's men and women in the service and those preparing to be deployed. Rumours will be transformed into a USO canteen lounge and the beauty queens will do swing medleys, hula and patriotic classics. Performers include: Haunani Asing, Kehaulani Christian, Denby Dung, B.J. Feldman, Cathy Foy-Mahi, Candes Gentry, Luana Hee, Lani Kaaa, Erika Kauffman, Debbie Nakanelua-Richards, Bev Noa, Kanoe Naone, Jeannie Oliveira, Jennifer Pimentel, Delfin Poaha, Marlene Schimmelfenning and Billie Takaki. Tara and Olive check out fashion show sites

Tara Chanel, with Aloha flight attendant Olive Zanakis, were at Longhi's Sunday checking out the location for a possible St. John Boutique luncheon or early evening informal fashion shows. Bartender David Yadao, the noted margarita maker and water sportsman, was looking after them. The women were joined later by Aloha pilot Darius Kono. The fashion shows would be in conjunction with the opening of the new St. John Boutique on Ala Moana Center's second floor. St. John is now on the third floor. Tara is the in-house St. John model and assists with planning special events and fashion shows ...

Here's a chance to be on a network TV show. Cathy Reinking, casting director for NBC's "Hawaii," is looking for people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds to be part of the police drama that premieres this fall. The casting call is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Windward Mall Center Stage. Bring a current photo and portfolio, if you have them ...

"A Tribute to Sammy" -- with Garry Moore as Sammy Davis, and Kimo Kahoano, George Chun and Al Waterson portraying Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Joey Bishop -- hits Esprit in the Sheraton Waikiki for a "Rat Pack" one-nighter Aug. 27. Tickets, $15, will be sold at the door ... The Hawaii Opera Theatre's "The Mikado" closes this weekend at the Blaisdell Concert Hall with performances Friday through Sunday ...
