The Waikiki Health Center will hold an open house next week with health experts and free blood pressure and eye screenings.
The event is part of a nationwide observance honoring community health centers, which provide quality health care to 15 million Americans in 4,500 communities.
The open house will run Monday through Friday, 9 to 11 a.m., with lobby exhibits of the center's numerous programs.
Health center representatives will be available to answer questions and listen to community input.
>> Tuesday: Alzheimer's Association representatives will speak with visitors on the disease and its work.
>> Wednesday: National Kidney Foundation-Hawaii representatives will be on hand to discuss kidney disease.
>> Thursday: Kupuna Day is for seniors, with free blood pressure and eye screenings.
Health centers save close to $3 billion annually in federal and state Medicaid expenditures by reducing specialty care referrals, resulting in fewer hospital admissions.
The Waikiki Health Center is at 277 Ohua St., next to the Waikiki Community Center.
