Waipahu’s Williams may
be done for season

San Francisco Giants right-hander Jerome Williams could miss the rest of the regular season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow yesterday.

The Waipahu High alumnus, 9-7 with a 4.41 ERA in 21 starts this season, went on the disabled list last week after leaving a start against St. Louis midway through the fourth inning.

Doctors removed loose particles from his elbow during the surgery, which will keep Williams out for at least six weeks.

The Giants still hope Williams will be able to return for the final weeks of the regular season.

The Giants have shuffled their rotation in his absence, with rookie Noah Lowry pitching a three-hit shutout Tuesday night.

San Francisco still isn't certain who'll start tomorrow's game against the Chicago Cubs.
