Food, bargains offered at fund-raising events

Food and bargains will be offered in August fund-raising events in island churches.

>> Next Saturday: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The annual rummage sale at Harris United Methodist Church, 20 S. Vineyard Blvd., will offer books, clothing, housewares and white elephant items. Ministries to youth, women and children will benefit.

>> Next Saturday: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The annual bazaar at Community of Christ Church, 2319 Rose St., will include rummage sale and white elephant booths, games for children and a variety of food for sale including shoyu chicken plate lunch, sushi, teriyaki burgers, saimin and baked goods. It will benefit the Lanakila Meals on Wheels program.

>> Next Saturday: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. A rummage sale at First United Methodist Church, 1020 S. Beretania St., will have linens, craft supplies, toys, housewares and clothes on sale. Mission projects of United Methodist Women will benefit.

>> Aug. 21: 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for the 48th annual takeout luau at United Church of Christ, 467 N. Judd St. The 11-course Hawaiian feast is $18 per box. Call 536-8418 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays for reservations. The proceeds will benefit Pacific Health Ministries.
