There won't be an announcement on
West Keli'ikipi until at least next week
Any announcement regarding the future of suspended Hawaii running back West Keli'ikipi is on hold until next week.
Michael Green, the attorney representing Keli'ikipi, had expected his client would be reinstated to the Warriors roster today. But details still have to be worked out, he said.
"I told the university don't do anything until next Friday," Green said. "But he's working out with the team (in informal workouts) and I'm pretty sure he's going to be back on the team. If not, we're going to court."
Keli'ikipi was suspended last spring because he was indicted on a charge of second-degree felony theft, deemed a major violation of the UH Student-Athlete Handbook.
Green has been working on getting a deferred plea for Keli'ikipi to avoid a court trial in the hope Keli'ikipi can be reinstated in time for football season.
UH officials declined comment yesterday.
There is also no news on the status of running back Mike Bass and offensive linemen Brandon Eaton. A university committee has recommended both be suspended for alleged involvement in a campus fight in February. Both are appealing.
