Janet Jackson
spotted at W

IF YOU were paying attention at the W Honolulu on Friday night, you might have been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of "Miss Wardrobe Malfunction" herself, Janet Jackson.

Reportedly in town to work on some sort of video production, the singer slipped past Matty Hazelgrove and the line at the front door, opting to keep a low profile by entering through a back entrance just after 11 p.m.

It took me a moment to spot her as I said hello to promoter Komo Low, but he confirmed that yes, it really was Janet kicking back on a couch and enjoying the beats by DJ Gary O.

Dressed in a simple white top and tattered blue jeans, it looked like she was there with a few girlfriends -- I saw no sign of Gil Duldalao, the local boy who's one of her dancers and usually accompanies Jackson on trips to the islands.

But I did see KHON's Emily Chang before I left the party, and she was looking good as always ...

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS of my Friday: Starting things off with 104.3 XME's Cedric Duarte at the Hard Rock Cafe with a couple of $5 pitchers was fun as always, but what trips me out is the diversity of the crowd that's showing up at this party. Within a span of five minutes, I spotted Bill Brennan smoking a cigarette and sipping a beer on the back lanai, while UH basketball player Julian Sensley made his entrance with a few friends and headed straight for the bar ... When I first saw Chai Chaowasaree filling a pilsner glass to the brim with Crown Royal, I thought he must be having a great time at the premiere of "The Sauce." Ends up the owner of Chai's Island Bistro was actually serving customers (and taking tips) alongside a few of his employees ... Best line of the night? Walking out of the W Honolulu and hearing some guy screaming, "where's my f-ing car!?!?" as he staggered through the parking lot at Kapiolani Park ...

IF YOU haven't been to the Wave Waikiki for the "Pussycat Lounge" lately, tonight is definitely the night to head down and check out the fun.

For the first time ever, Artist Groove Network will team up with Pussycat Projects to host the evening, which features a live performance by the International Players. Percussionist Laka Carpenter, B.E.T.'s Tim "Papa T" Troxell, Jamin "The Chief Ragga" Wong and THC's Binghi T and Isis make up the group.

Among the DJs scheduled to spin tonight at the Wave: Adam Webb, KSM, SubZero, Jrama, DmanD and Epic One. You also don't want to miss Pussycat Lounge "Kitties" Aimee and Candee or the Go-Go Dancing All-Star Team featuring Kamakoa and Cheryl while you're there ...

AND CONDOLENCES go out to the family of Ricardo "Ricky" Morales, also known as "Merk." The husband of Na Leo member Angela Morales and original member of the E Haku Mele Trio passed away on July 10. Services will be held on Saturday ...
