» Marion Sato, a Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hawaii concierge, has been honored with Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year by Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association's Na Poe Paahana awards. In second place was Cari Maruyama, and in third place was Kathy Teruya. Other winners in the order of first, second and third place were: Richard "Odi" Odiorne, Kamalu Sheldon and Carlton Okamoto, Bell/Valet Person of the Year; Scott Gonsalves, Nalani Aki and Leeann "Kaohelani" Paman, Concierge of the Year; Walter "Wally" Nakashima, Ernie DeSilva and Grant Suzuki, Engineering/Maintenance of the Year; Kevin Masuda, Antonio Bacungan and Joanne Rocha, Food and Beverage Person of the Year; Lynn Matsumura, Kelli Honda and Jacquelyn Izumi, Front Office Person of the Year; Marleen Okuno, Edward Kaanehe Jr. and Douglas Chang, Manager of the Year; Elsie Badua, Sarah Laikona and Carolina Bautista, Housekeeper of the Year; John Finnegan, Keola Kosuga and Curtis Diamond, Security Officer of the Year; Vernon Gleason, Wendy Kuhns-Higashino and Lisa Tomita, Recreation Person of the Year; and Donald "Donnie" Yannell, Allied Member of the Year.

» CB Richard Ellis Hawaii Inc. has honored Andrew D. Starn as Rookie of the Year. He is a retail properties division associate specializing in commercial real estate properties. The award is presented annually to an outstanding first-year CBRE Hawaii broker.

» The National Institutes of Standards and Technology has appointed Becky Winters to the 2004 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. She will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications submitted for the award.
