UH dean to give update on Kakaako
Dr. Edwin C. Cadman, dean of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, will describe progress on the new medical school in Kakaako at a breakfast forum from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Pacific Club.
The Hawaii Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties is sponsoring the event, with breakfast from 7:30 to 8 a.m., followed by the program.

Man arrested in Waialua robbery
Authorities arrested a 33-year-old man Thursday for an April 23 robbery of a Waialua gas station.
Police said the suspect displayed a weapon and demanded money from a 35-year-old male cashier at Kawamata Brothers Ltd. gas station, 66-540 Kamehameha Highway.
Police said he took the cash from the register and fled on foot.
Police later identified the suspect and he was arrested for first-degree robbery.

Sailor and husband arrested in 'ice' raid
A Navy sailor, her civilian husband and another civilian were arrested after a search of the couple's home Thursday in the Radford Terrace Navy family housing area uncovered a crystal methamphetamine lab.
Agents from the Naval Criminal Investigation Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, the Honolulu Police Department and state Department of Public Safety narcotics enforcement division raided the home at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
The sailor is being held by Navy officials while the two civilians are under federal custody.

Fire crews to attempt to finish job in Kunia
More than 20 city and federal firefighters weren't able to extinguish a Kunia brush fire yesterday that started Wednesday morning, and they were expected to return today to put out hot spots.
From about 9 a.m. to dusk yesterday, crews worked to put out hot spots in hard-to-reach areas, Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Kenison Tejada said. They were expected to return for a fifth consecutive day at 8 this morning.
The fire started Wednesday near the base of the Waianae Mountain range near Kunia Road. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
In addition to ground crews, one HFD helicopter dropped water on the site yesterday and shuttled firefighters in and out of the area.

Aston hotel evacuated after false fire alarm
A false alarm caused the evacuation of a Waikiki hotel yesterday morning, fire officials said.
The Aston at the Waikiki Banyan was evacuated about 9:30 a.m. after overcooked food set off a fire alarm. Hotel personnel could not say how many guests were in the building at the time.
