Hawaii team captures AAU baseball nationals
The Hawaii Warriors exploded for five runs on three hits and three walks in the second inning en route to a 7-2 win over the Florida Extreme in the 9-and-under final of the AAU Baseball Championships in Orlando, Fla.
Travis Garcia-Perreira went 2-for-4, including a double, and Taylor Taliulu was a perfect 2-for-2 to lead Hawaii at the plate. Garcia-Perreira was also the winning pitcher.
Kono falls into third-place tie in Junior PGA
Punahou golfer Stephanie Kono shot a 2-over 73 yesterday, but fell into a third-place tie in the Westfield Junior PGA Championship in Ohio.
Kono has a three-round total of 5-over 218 and trails leader Angela Park of California by seven shots.
Wailuku's Kelly Nakashima also shot a 73 yesterday and is tied for 18th. Hilo's Jacob Low shot a 78 and trails boys leader Daniel Woltman of Wisconsin by 17 shots.
UH's Frazier, Jones to speak at town meeting
University of Hawaii athletic director Herman Frazier and football coach June Jones will speak to community members at the Aiea and Pearl City town meeting Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pearlridge Elementary School cafeteria
The event is sponsored by a group of state legislators.

Tinman Triathlon traffic slow-downs expected
The Tinman Triathlon tomorrow is likely to cause traffic slow-downs in many areas from Waikiki to Hawaii Kai.
The race, which starts at 5:30 a.m. and is expected to end around 10:30 a.m., is a 750-meter swim at Queen's Beach, followed by a 38-kilometer bike race to Hawaii Kai and back and a 10K run around Diamond Head.
