3 series set
isle film record

NBC's police drama "Hawaii" starts shooting tomorrow and ABC's castaway show "Lost" begin filming Friday with the prerequisite Hawaiian blessings. "Hawaii" 's second episode tentatively is called "Cops and Robbers." Along with Fox's "North Shore," this is the first time in Hawaii history three network series are filming here at the same time ...

Smart move by NBC to hire two local PR people, Mona Wood, owner of IKAIKA Communications, and associate Kristin Jackson, who did publicity for "Baywatch Hawaii," to coordinate local media coverage. "Hawaii" will bow in a "sneak peak" Aug. 30 on KHNL/NBC, then return to its regularly scheduled time slot two days later on Wednesday, Sept. 1 ...

Emilie de Ravin ("Roswell") has been added as a series regular to the "Lost" cast that will air Sept. 22. She recently wrapped the feature film "Brick" and "Santa's Slay."

The show's writers and producers will be featured in this year's Comic-Con International 2004, held annually at the San Diego Convention Center, on July 24. David Fury, Paul Dini, Damon Lindeloff and Bryan Burk will be part of the "Lost" panel. A sneak peek of the first hour of the pilot will be screened, followed by a Q&A session.

The pilot will have commentary by cast members Dominic Monaghan, Evangeline Lilly and Matthew Fox. Jorge Garcia says "Working in Hawaii is pretty much like hitting the jackpot. It's like, this is the beach, this is the gorgeous mountain, and this is my office."

Production workers are readying the show's soundstage at the former Xerox building on Nimitz Highway, following scale models of the caves where the plane crash survivors live on the unnamed island. The plane's fuselage has been moved a few hundred yards west from its original Mokuleia beach location near the Dillingham Airfield ...

Patrick Norris, who directed the second episode of "North Shore," has been named a series producer. Next week's show features cameo appearances by Dennis Rodman and Melissa Joan Hart playing themselves. Local actor Dylan Bruno, who co-starred in John Stockwell's unaired Fox pilot "The Break," makes an appearance as Trey.

Veteran actor Christopher McDonald makes his "North Shore" debut July 26, playing hotel magnate Walter Booth, a ruthless businessman who may have his eye on the show's Grand Waimea Hotel. He'll also be keeping his eye on his daughter Nicole (Brooke Burns), who recently started work on the hotel staff.
