Maui sightings: Britney Spears and fiancé Kevin Federline were seen at the Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel in Wailea. ... The Kapalua Wine and Food Festival brought in nationally syndicated shock jock radio personality Tom Leykis. The Los Angeles-based DJ, whose radio show airs daily in Honolulu on AM 1080, was a special guest at the four-day event. ... Also at the festival was former U.S. Representative (he represented California's 16th district from 1977-93) and former White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta (he served under President Clinton from 1994 to 1997). He was enjoying the festivities with his family. ...

Speaking about Capitol Hill, look for local girl Virginia Lum in Michael Moore's movie "Fahrenheit 9/11." Lum's a trial and appellate attorney at the Department of Justice in Washington D.C. In the movie, she is swearing in John Ashcroft as the attorney general of the United States Justice Department. She didn't know she was in the film until a colleague told her. Lum is the sister-in-law of the University of Hawaii Board of Regents' chariwoman Patricia Lee. ... Another local person that may make it to the big screen is 102.7 Da Bomb's Paul Ogata. The local comedian/DJ stars as "Karate Man" in a movie about Damon Wayans' early days in comedy. Ogata got the part with the help of a Hollywood friend who called Ogata to ask if he could catch a flight to the mainland that was leaving in two hours. He finished work and made it to the airport with five minutes to spare. The film is written and directed by Wayans and also stars younger brother Marlon Wayans, Jim Belushi and Camryn Manheim. Ogata got to meet Damon and Marlon while he was shooting and says they are "very nice guys." ...

While local people are making their way off island for summer travel, Tom Moffat's "Elvis the Concert" is bringing people to the island. Ticket orders for the Aug. 15 concert at Blaisdell Arena are coming in from Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Massachussettes, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma and Oregon. ... Those who thought $95 was high for The Who concert tickets should be glad to be getting a price break. Tickets for the group's Madison Square Garden Show are going for as much as $254.50. ...

Wonder what the two-person camera crew was doing near the volleyball courts by Fort DeRussy Beach Saturday? They were shooting a Steinlager commercial featuring local pro beach volleyball player Lia Young. Her finacˇ Ian Hunt, a Kaiser graduate and model, will also be in a Steinlager commercial. The two will be married here in November. ...
