Jellyfish warning on until tomorrow

The city's Ocean Safety Division has issued a box jellyfish advisory for today and tomorrow.

Near-shore waters most commonly affected by the monthly influx of box jellyfish are Waikiki Beach and Hanauma and Pokai bays, lifeguards said.

The influx, which peaks about 10 days after a full moon, is expected to subside by Tuesday. Those who are allergic to the box jellyfish's sting are warned to stay out of the water until the advisory is lifted.

For more information, call the Ocean Safety division's 24-hour hotline at 922-3888, extension 51.
