The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.



Cyanotech rises


Cyanotech Corp., the best-performing local stock last year, gained 4.2 percent in a holiday-shortened week to lead 10 other companies in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index.

The Kona aquaculture company, up 370 percent in 2003, had been the worst performer this year until moving out of the cellar this week. Cyanotech, trading at $1.73, is down 8 percent this year.

Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent of Hawaiian Airlines, deflated 15.1 percent this week to $5.83 after reaching a nine-year high last week of $7.15.
