Survey project work to close stretch of H-1
The H-1 freeway between Halawa and Pearl City will be closed from 10 p.m. next Thursday to 4 a.m. July 16.
The freeway will be closed in both directions between the Halawa and Waiau interchanges for survey work as part of the $55 million widening project.
Motorists are asked to use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway or Moanalua Road and to allow for extra travel time.

Popular demand for tickets to the Who's Aug. 3 concert at the Blaisdell arena has led Tom Moffatt Productions to release an additional 294 tickets in two sections close to the stage in the upper levels stage left and right.

Kaneohe District Park to host weekend fair
The annual Kaneohe Complex Family Makahiki Fun Fair will be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Kaneohe District Park.
The fair features food booths, carnival games, pool rides and entertainment by summer fun participants. The event is sponsored by the Kaneohe Lions Club, in cooperation with the city Parks and Recreation Kaneohe Summer Fun program and Kaneohe District Park.

Lupus group to host acupuncture classes
The Hawaii Lupus Foundation will hold free classes on Oahu and Kauai on July 17 to demonstrate how acupuncture can ease physical pain for lupus patients.
Both classes will be from 10 a.m. to noon. The one in Honolulu will be in Room 105, Beretania Community Park, 1290 Aala St. The Lihue class will be in the Neighborhood Center, 3353 Eono St., Old Building kitchen room.
Lupus erythematosus is a disorder of the body's immune system which causes a person to produce abnormal antibodies. Antibodies normally protect the body, but a lupus patient's antibodies turn inward, attacking healthy tissue.

Classes offer advice on addiction treatment
Drug Addiction Services of Hawaii Inc. is offering free classes for people who treat or work with substance abusers who have mental health or other problems.
Classes will be at the organization's offices, 1130 North Nimitz Highway, Suite C-302 (near Alakawa Street), as follows:
>> July 22, 9 to 10:30 a.m., Dr. John Stasinos, Department of Psychiatry, Tripler Army Medical Center, discussing symptoms and biology of drug psychosis and effects of long-term use of crystal methamphetamine and other drugs.
>> Aug. 26, noon to 1:30 p.m., Dr. Celia Ona, medical director, Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health, discussing symptoms and medications for depression and interactions with alcohol and other drugs, including "ice."
Drug Addiction Services will approve 1.5 hours of continuing education units for substance abuse certification for each class.

Police arrest man in alleged sex assault
Police arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 40-year-old woman at Kakaako Waterfront Park.
Police said the two were drinking in the park about 2 p.m. June 30 when the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the woman.
The woman reported the incident on Monday, and police arrested the man for first-degree sexual assault.
The suspect was later released pending investigation.

Hotel customer held in theft of necklace
Police arrested a 46-year-old Wahiawa man Tuesday when he returned to a Waikiki hotel jewelry shop to pay for a necklace he had allegedly stolen earlier.
The suspect, whom police described as a customer, entered the jewelry store at the Hilton Hawaiian Village at 2005 Kalia Road about 11:30 a.m.
At that time the store owner was setting up a display, police said.
While waiting for an item he purchased, the store clerk noticed him slip something into his pocket, police said.
After the customer left, the clerk noticed a necklace valued at about $1,400 missing from the display, police said.
The clerk then combed the hotel grounds for the customer, found him and asked him to return to the store, police said.
The man allegedly shoved the clerk and fled on his mo-ped, but the customer later called the store and returned to pay for the stolen necklace, police said.
Waiting plainclothes police officers arrested the suspect for first-degree robbery and second-degree theft.
Late-night stroll leads to sex assault in alley
Police are looking for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Waikiki on Monday.
Police said the 20-year-old woman was walking along Kuhio Avenue with a friend when she was pulled into an alley by a man and sexually assaulted, about 12:30 a.m.
No description of the suspect was available.
