>> Dane Sardinha (Kamehameha) was Louisville's lone selection to the International League All-Star game July 13 at Pawtucket. It is the first time the Bats have been held to a single selection since 1999.
>> Kaulana Kahaulua (Waianae) was sent back down to Class A Fort Myers after a week in Double A. Kahaulua, 24, batted .186 with a double and seven strikeouts in 21 at-bats at the higher level. Kahaulua was an injury replacement for injured starting pitcher Jim Abbott.
>> Brandon League (Saint Louis) made only his second start of the season last week, beating Norwich 7-2 Friday, shutting the Navigators out for five innings. League had been primarily a reliever this season.
>> Micah Furtado (Kapaa) was Clinton's hottest hitter in the month of June, finishing with a .351 average with 14 RBIs. Furtado missed the first two months of the season with an injury.
>> Darren Blakely (Hawaii) was named the Carolina League's player of the week, hitting .350 with four home runs and six RBIs in the stretch.
>> Although Justin Hall (St. Anthony) had his contract purchased by the Texas Rangers, the infielder never appeared in a game in the organization and returned to the Saints. The Rangers intended to place Hall in Triple A but changed their mind when major league second baseman Eric Young made a surprise recovery from a spider bite. Texas offered Hall a position at Single A Stockton but Hall refused.
>> Kainoa Obray (Iolani) is on the disabled list with a back injury. The third baseman in the St. Louis Cardinals organization is back in Hawaii for extensive rehabilitation.
>> Chad Boudon (Hawaii), an outfielder/first baseman, was released by the Baltimore Orioles June 23 after just two games in the New York-Penn League season.
>> Pat Scalabrini (Hawaii) was named the Northern League's player of the month for June, hitting .405 with seven homers and 25 RBIs in 26 games. His explosion might have come at the right time, as his Winnepeg club is being followed by scouts for Canada's national team. Scalabrini played for Canada in the World Cup last year and is excited about the possibilty of a trip to Athens.
"It would be the best thing that could ever happen to me," Scalabrini told the Winnepeg Sun. "It's the Olympics. It's where it all started. Of course I'm dreaming about the possibilities, but I don't know how big of a shot I have."
