Early morning fire damages Kauai home
Kauai firefighters are investigating the cause of a house fire at a Kealia home yesterday.
The fire at 3531 Kaao St. was reported at 5 a.m.
The fire was under control by 5:41 a.m. and extinguished at 6:40 a.m.
No one was injured.
A damage estimate wasn't available yesterday.

Navy sailor killed in cycle crash identified
The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office has identified a 21-year-old Navy sailor who died early Thursday after a motorcycle crash on Nimitz Highway as Clint Shunk.
Police said Shunk, who was stationed aboard a U.S. Navy ship, was headed Koko Head-bound on Nimitz Highway at about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday when he was thrown from his motorcycle after hitting a guardrail.
Shunk was taken to the Queen's Medical Center, where he died at 12:52 a.m. Thursday.
Police traffic investigators said speed appeared to be a factor in the crash. Shunk was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred, police said.

Brush fire burns near Waipio Soccer Park
A brush fire burned three acres bordering a dirt parking lot in the Waipio Soccer Field Complex yesterday.
Firefighters were called at 12:49 p.m. and the fire was extinguished at 3:37 p.m., said Kapolei Battalion Chief Roland Harvest. Nine companies and a hazmat team responded to the fire because of rubbish and possible hazardous materials in the area.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined, Harvest said.
