Taste of July
As we're about to celebrate the Fourth of July in the land of the free, all hail the free lunch.
Star Markets' Kahala Mall and Kamehameha Shopping Center locations are offering shoppers an opportunity to taste the afternoon away at its International Food Fair today.
Sample Saags sausages, Gouvea's Portuguese Sausage Pampanga's Longonisa, Dreyer's ice cream, Hawaiian Noni and much more.
Tastings at Kahala Mall run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with samplings of Coor's new low-carb beer, Aspen Edge, from 11 a.m. to noon. Low-carb wines will also be offered to 6 p.m. Must be 21 to sample the alcoholic beverages. Call 564-7360 for more information.

Sushi, sake and news
Mix and mingle with Honolulu journalists at "Sushi and Sake Night," a fund-raiser for the Hawaii chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association.
The event takes place 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. July 17 at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa pool deck, and will feature cuisine and sake from several restaurants including Yatai, Musashi, 3660 on the Rise and Wasabi Bistro.
Tickets are $50 general and $45 for AAJA members. The ticket price includes admission to the Feng Shui party at Ciao Mein, starting at 9:30 p.m. For tickets, call 543-3556.
Proceeds will benefit scholarships, internships and other activities of the AAJA's Hawaii chapter.
