Andy Irons inducted
into ‘Wall of Fame’

ABOUT FOUR years have passed since local surfer Sunny Garcia was inducted into the Hard Rock Cafe's "Wall of Fame" in Waikiki.

Tonight, fellow boardrider Andy Irons joins Garcia in that elite group during a celebration at the restaurant from 5 to 7 p.m.

Irons is in town to screen a new movie, called "Blue Horizon," that he stars in with Australian surfer Dave Rastovich. The film, directed by Jack McCoy, is an effort to bring surfing to the big screen, instead of relegating the sport to DVDs that fans can only watch at home.

"Blue Horizon" screens at 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow at the Blaisdell Concert Hall before moving out to the old Haleiwa Gym at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets are $10, but you can pick up $8 presales at any Hawaiian Island Creations, Local Motion or Town and Country Surf location ...

FISHERMAN'S WHARF tosses its hat into the ultralounge fray this week with "The Living Room" from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. tonight, tomorrow and Saturday.

Tonight serves as the soft opening for the new party, which translates into free cover for all you nightcrawlers on a budget.

DJs Dave Hanh, Ms. Angel, Miklos and Archangel will spin tonight, with DJs RiseUp, Haboh and the guys from Nitelite on deck for tomorrow.

It should be interesting to see how this new venue pans out ...

OVER AT Longhi's, Green Bottle Productions and Complete Industries' "Flight One Fridays" continues as one of the most underrated parties in town on a Friday night.

While crowds might be bigger at some other spots, Longhi's comes correct with a chill vibe, enough room to dance without rubbing up on the couple shaking it next to you, and tasty beats courtesy of DJs Mixmaster B and Anit.

This week features a special "Retro Fantasy" hair show, with former Miss Hawaii USA Justine Michioka and former Miss Hawaii Teen USA Kaitlyn Metcalf sporting hairstyles by Salon 808. Doors open at 9 p.m. tomorrow night at the restaurant, with the show getting started around midnight ...

ON SATURDAY, a new afterhours party kicks off at the Mercury. AYA and IOS present "The Official Afterparty," starting at 2 a.m. and continuing until the sun comes up.

Among the DJs scheduled to take part: Akio, Rayne, PSI, Niko, BassX, Kause, Konception, Universoul and Badmouth.

Check out www.afterparty. com for more details on this one ...

AND LAST weekend's successful premiere party for the new television show "Play'd" results in a new gig for the show's host, local model Sondra Barker. Starting July 11, she'll team up with "Play'd" executive producer Ian Fernandez to present "Risque" every week at the Hanohano Room from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. ...
