Salsa to the max
Music lovers gather
at Ala Moana
The fourth annual Dia de San Juan Puerto Rican Cultural and Salsa Festival and Salsathon was held yesterday in McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park. Two couples, Al Gonzalez and Maze Lima, and Julie Rahmer and Oscar Osorio, danced under the trees in the pavilion. The event, a benefit for the Hispanic Center of Hawaii, included Latino food, entertainment and crafts.
Lisa Young and Tricia Marciel danced a cha-cha during the salsa lessons yesterday.
Wally Rita, playing guitar, and Clyde Ruiz, on the congas, along with other members of the band Wally Rita and his Latin Amigos, entertained the crowd yesterday.
At left, Tonia Galarza, Dianne Fraticelli and Sam Fraticelli enjoyed the entertainment.
Elaine Ortiz, above, a singer for one of the groups, wore a dress decorated as a Puerto Rican flag.
