WAILUKU >> A former Iao Intermediate School teacher faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine after pleading guilty in federal court in Honolulu to possessing child pornography downloaded from the Internet.
Dane P. Kaneshina, 29, had some 34,000 pornographic images on two of his home computers, the majority of which showed children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Some of the children were under age 12, the U.S. Attorney's Office said yesterday.
Kaneshina, who pled guilty Friday, also had 100 images of child pornography on two school computers, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Court documents showed Kaneshina bought access to members-only Web sites offering child pornography from 2001 to 2003, U.S. Attorney Edward Kubo said.
Federal agents on Jan. 30 recovered two computers from Kaneshina's home and also obtained two school computers.
Kaneshina resigned as a science teacher in March.
