Men Do It Better:Yama Lake, second from left, and Graham Hadley added an effective male presence to an excellent staging of "Hysterical: A Short History of the Vibrator" at The ARTS at Marks Garage on Saturday. Hadley starred as Foster, a sexually repressed 19th-century gynecologist who invents the electrical device so that he can treat "hysterical" patients more quickly and avoid "squishy fingers." Lake made a great villain as Foster's smarmy partner. (The male roles were played in entertaining style by females when "Hysterical" was presented at the UH-Manoa in 2002, but using male actors this time eliminated the transvestite "girls will be boys" factor and increased the impact of several scenes). Lake and Hadley were joined on stage by female cast members Jennie S. Lake, left, and Jennifer Bolieu, and playwright/director Hilary Hadley Wright for a post-show drawing for a free item from Sensually Yours.

Waiting For The Show: Fashion maven Joey Caldarone struck a pose with recording artist Brittney Anelaikalani Jennings as they waited for the 2004 Miss Hawaii Pageant to get started in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom on Friday. Jennings has a new recording project on the way that should jump-start her career internationally.

Catching Up: Kaitlyn Metcalf, back home from college for the summer, caught up with Jason Ulep, left, Ari Green and Kala'i Stern during the cocktail hour that preceded the 2004 Miss Hawaii Pageant on Friday. Green flew in from Los Angeles to support his sister, Miss Island Oahu Liana Ortiz Green.

Tom Takes A Night Off: Tom Moffatt, center, checked out Manoa Valley Theatre's fund-raiser production of "The Honeymooners: The Lost Episodes" at the Hawaii Theatre on Thursday and then went backstage to congratulate the stars of the show, Joe Moore (Ralph Kramden) second from left, and Pat Sajak (Ed Norton), fourth from left (Sondra Barker and Greg Howell played secondary characters). Moffatt said it was an unusual feeling to watch a show "and not worry about it."

Cheese Whizzes!: Flash Hansen, kneeling left, Claudette Bond and Marti "The Marti" Kerton celebrated with tux-clad Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine members Bobby Ricotta, left, Gordon Brie and Buddy Gouda after the quartet's swingin' show at the Wave Waikiki on Saturday.
