>> Forrest City Enterprises and C. F. Jordan have appointed Thad E. Bond senior vice president for Hawaii Military Communities. He will be responsible for overseeing projects within existing communities at McGrew Point, Hokulani, Moanalua Terrace, Halsey Terrace and Radford Terrace. He previously worked as development director and senior project manager for Hualalai Development Co. on the Big Island.

>> Finance Factors has hired Michael Rae Brown as the company's Windward Oahu Mortgage Center's senior loan officer. He previously served as a Charter Funding loan officer.

PROMOTIONS

>> Maui Memorial Medical Center has appointed three employees to senior management positions. Wesley Lo has been named interim chief executive officer. He will be responsible for overseeing and managing expansion and improvement plans that are under way. He previously served as chief operating officer. Karen Oura has been promoted to chief clinical executive. She will be responsible for overseeing all clinical departments. She previously served as chief nurse executive. Patrick Saka has been appointed chief financial officer. He previously worked as the Maui News publisher.

>> The Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies has appointed new members. Tony Lau has been appointed chairman. Westley Chun has been appointed vice chairman. Todd Barnes has been appointed secretary. Erik Kaneshiro has been appointed treasurer.

RECOGNITION

>> Hawaii Pacific University board of trustees awarded Bernard Ostrowski the 2004 Trustees' Award for Teaching Excellence. He has worked with numerous organizations in the Pacific region designing and implementing external evaluations in addition to teaching.

>> The American Institute of Architects has awarded a fellowship to Francis Oda. He is Group 70 International Inc. chairman and chief executive and served as the past AIA Hawaii chapter president.
