The Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) will be holding a "medieval faire" on the grounds of the Honolulu Academy of Arts on Sunday. Besides the expected jousting about, there will also be more benign activities for the public to take in, like court dancing and cloth spinning demonstrations.
And the little "squires" will be able to make their own knight's helmets and maiden's steeple hats to get into that day's Middle Age vibe.
Medieval music will be provided by the Navy Woodwind Quintet.
The SCA is dedicated to the research and re-creation of medieval and Renaissance culture, through the arts, sciences, combat, speech, dress and courtly manners, ranging from the nobility to the peasants. Each society member will have their own personal character that they will be portraying.
By the way, FYI, Hawaii is part of the Kingdom of Caid, which also encompasses Southern and Central California, and Las Vegas County. The islands make up the Western Seas Palatine Barony of the kingdom, overseen by the fair and gentle rule of Lord Alexandre Afonso de Almeida, aka Kevin Almeida.
