Hawaii booters in Region IV tournament

The Hawaii Select men's soccer team will participate in the USSF Region IV State Select Teams Tournament at Pomona, Calif., today through Sunday.

Hawaii plays Arizona today, Utah tomorrow and has two matches on Saturday -- against Washington and California-South -- with the final match Sunday against California-North.

Frank Doyle is the coach.

Speed and quickness clinic at UH's Cooke Field

The Hawaii Speed and Quickness Clinic opened its summer session June 12 at Cooke Field on the Hawaii campus.

Hawaii defensive backs coach Rich Miano and UH strength and conditioning coach Mel deLaura headline the instructional staff. Demonstrations will be done by UH athletes.

Ages 7-12 will train at 10:30 a.m., the 13-up clinic starts at 2 p.m.

The cost is $10 per session. Clinic dates include June 13, 19 and 20; July 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31; and Aug. 1.

Fujimoto-Kimura win Bellman Bragging Rights

Russell Fujimoto and Lance Kimura of the Waikiki Beach Marriott combined to shoot a 65 to win the second annual Oahu Bellman Bragging Rights Golf Championship yesterday at the Ko Olina Golf club. Fujimoto-Kimura beat Craig Nakagawa and Adrian Jimenez of the Hyatt, who shot a combined 67. Hank Tominaga and Alan Doike of Royal Hawaiian were third with a 68.
