NFL player in Hawaii for clinic
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Todd Pinkston will help conduct a speed and quickness clinic at McKinley High School on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
Pinkston and three other former college athletes will teach ways to improve speed, agility and quickness.
Both male and female athletes of all sports will benefit from the clinic. Each participant will receive a copy of the clinic workout, a clinic T-shirt and a group photo. Cost is $45.

Punahou alumnus part of tourney-winning team
SAN DIEGO, Calif. >> Punahou alumnus Mike Lambert and partner Karch Kiraly, a three-time Olympian, won their second consecutive tournament title this weekend at the AVP Nissan Series San Diego Open.
Lambert and Kiraly defeated Sean Rosenthal and Larry Witt 21-18, 14-21, 15-8. For Kiraly, this weekend marked his record-extending 146th win and Lambert's second on the Tour.
Some of the top men's teams, including the combo of Punahou alumnus Stein Metzger and Dax Holdren, were playing in an Olympic qualifier in Puerto Rico and were absent from this tournament.
Silva named Farrington interim basketball coach
Former Chaminade basketball player and assistant coach Alan Silva has been named the interim head boys coach at Farrington.
Silva is replacing David Pila, who has moved into the Department of Education's vice principal administration program. Silva was an assistant for Pila this past season.
Silva, a 1975 Kailua graduate, played four seasons for the Silverswords (1975-79). He's had coaching stints at Hawaii Loa College, Chaminade and Maryknoll, been in private business, and has run the DOE-sponsored "Positive Connections," a self-esteem/drug awareness program in the schools.
Scalabrini honored for hot week
Third baseman Pat Scalabrini of the Winnipeg Goldeyes has been selected as the Northern League Player of the Week for June 7-13.
Scalabrini, who played two seasons for Hawaii, led the league with a .519 batting average. He scored 10 runs, and had 14 hits, five doubles and a .552 on-base percentage. The 27-year-old right-handed batter also had the second-highest slugging percentage at 1.037, tied for second with three homers, and drove in seven runs.
For the season, Scalabrini is batting .371, sixth best in the independent Northern League, with a league-best 15 doubles, five homers and 22 RBIs in 23 games.
Stevens, Schnack take half-marathon titles
Matt Stevens and Cynthia Schnack won their respective divisions at the Hawaiian Half-Marathon yesterday by impressive margins.
Steven was the overall winner in a time of 1 hour, 14 minutes and 29 seconds, nearly two minutes ahead of William Ngetich (1:16:09). Schnack finished in 1:27:36 to win the women's division, more than four minutes ahead of Jeannie Wokasch (1:31:51).
The course began at Ala Moana Park, continued through Waikiki and Kahala, and finished at Kapiolani Park.
