Gettin' Crazy At Kapono's: KPOA disk jockey Hawaiian Home Boy, left, clowned backstage with Christian Yrizarry of Ho'onua, James P. Roche of Da Bruddahs and Lukela Keala of Ekolu during the Kani Makou CD Release Party at Kapono's on Thursday. Oahu got a good taste of what Maui bands are capable of these days when Ekolu and Kohomua played for the SRO crowd. VIPs Jared Keo of Ho'onua , Sani, Capella Williams and Pi'ilani Arias of Pono also checked out the party.

"We Love You But Jah Love You More!": Don Carlos gave an enthusiastic jam-packed crowd a powerful two-hour concert as the headliner of Jonathan Mack's "Angel Majik" party at Volcanoe's on Thursday. Don Carlos reminded the crowd of Jah's love for them many times before he released his high-piled dreadlocks and closed the show with "Just a Passing Glance" at 2:45 a.m. Friday.

A "Majik" Party: Concert promoter Jonathan Mack, left, partied backstage with galpal Kaili Chapman, Jane Loo, dancehall star Farenheit, Kya Letsinger and DJ Vlad (a k a "Vlad the Butcher"), while Don Carlos and his band were on. Vlad lived up to his pre-show press with his work during the "Angel Majik" party (his recent "Vlad the Butcher" and "Hot in Here 4" mix tapes are worth looking for). Natural Vibrations did Hawaii proud as the local act on the bill.

Hott Parties With Pepper: Star 101.9 star Hudson Hott celebrated with Pepper -- Bret Bollinger, left, Ysod Williams and Kaleo Wassman -- backstage at the Beach House. Pepper took the stage just past midnight and thanked the crowd, while playing a great mix of old and new music. Peni from Natural Vibrations sat in on "Natty Girl," and Josh from Bargain Music joined in for "Stormtrooper." The concert was shut down by the Fire Department and HPD shortly afterward.
