Here are a few events taking place in anticipation of Father's Day:
TODAY
» "Dad & Me Look Alike": Entering Victoria Ward's Daddy/Baby Look-Alike Contest has never been easier since they've made the switch from a costume contest to a photo contest, for dads with kids 12 and younger. To enter, have a 5-by-7-inch photo taken at Fantastic Shots in Ward Warehouse by Sunday for $10, to benefit the March of Dimes. Prizes will be awarded at the Family Fun Fair on June 19. Entrants must be present to win and are required to register between 9 and 9:30 a.m. at the Ewa end of Ward Warehouse.
In addition to first-, second- and third-place winners for children 1 to 12, one award will be presented for babies under 12 months old. Every place winner will win a "Family 4-Pack" to see "Sesame Street Live," running at the Blaisdell Concert Hall June 17 through 27.
A best-costumed duo will also be selected from the pool of contestants at the ceremony by audience applause. All contestants get to keep their photos and will receive a contestant prize pack for participating. Call 591-8411 for information.
» Father's Day contest: Children 9 to 18, are invited to write essays of 50 words or more on "Why My Dad is so Special" in a contest sponsored by the Gentry Waipio Shopping Center. Pick up forms from any tenant. There will be first-, second- and third-place prizes of $50, $30 and $20 in the three age categories. Winning essays will be judged on Tuesday and posted at the Waipio Foodland through June 22. Call 288-2590 for information.

"Day for Dads": The Hawaii Coalition for Dads hosts a free event 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Windward Mall, with entertainment by Dita Holifield, plus information booths and displays dedicated to building family strength. Repeats 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 19 at Pearlridge Center, with a Father-Child Look-Alike Contest at noon; live entertainment by the Country Dancers of Hawaii, Vaihi, Simplicity, Tradewinds, Hula Halau O Lilinoe and magicians; plus door prizes. JUNE 19
» Keala Pono Father's Day Art and Craft Fair: Handcrafts representing many different cultures will be presented at Kapiolani Park, near the bandstand, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shop for gifts, grab food available for purchase at booths, and the best part of all, spend the afternoon relaxing at the park or beach with your old man.
