Police volunteers
for parade deserve
a pat on the back

Hats off to the police officers who volunteered to provide traffic control for Saturday's 88th King Kamehameha Day Floral Parade. It was feared that the parade might be canceled as the Celebration Commission did not have $10,000 to pay 83 special duty officers. Meanwhile, the city decided to waive costs for the commission. Her feet were swollen after touring Doris Duke's estate with other Hawaii Theatre supporters following lunch at the home of Rick and Susan Fried. The van returning from the estate broke down so there was more walking ...

Owner Randy Schoch will be here for the anniversary. Former Ruth's G.M. Al Hosoi is now managing the Lahaina Fish Company restaurant ... As part of its 25th anniversary, Morton's is serving martinis in sterling silver martini glasses with hand-stuffed blue cheese olives this month. Cheers! ...
