Hawaiian flies
Hawaiian Holdings Inc.'s stock, which continues to rise in the face of subsidiary Hawaiian Airlines' bankruptcy, gained 2.1 percent this week to extend its gain since its post-bankruptcy low to 1,550 percent.
The parent company was the second-best performer in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin this week but took over the top spot for 2004 with a 65.6 percent gain. Hawaiian Holdings' stock, which closed at 30 cents on June 12, 2003, ended yesterday at $4.95 and hasn't closed at $5 since Sept. 18, 1997.
Alexander & Baldwin Inc. posted the week's top effort as it rose 3.2 percent to $32.89.
