Nicolas Cage and his girlfriend spent eight days at the Four Seasons Hotel on Maui (he left on Saturday). Their suite cost $8,000 a night and sources say he never left the room. Just a side note, Cage and Lisa Marie Presley's divorce was finalized last week. ... Adam Sandler suffered a surfing accident at Waikiki last week where he needed 15 stitches. ... Former local sportscaster Rob Fukuzaki, who brought humor to sports with KITV's "Fuk's Follies" in the early '90s, has taken broadcasting to the big screen. Fukuzaki can be seen in the movie "The Day After Tomorrow." See if you can spot him. ...

Jet-setting Keola Beamer and his wife Moanalani Beamer have a busy year ahead. The couple is currently on a two-week concert tour in Europe. After the tour, it's off to San Francisco to complete a CD with jazz pianist Geoffrey Keezer (the CD is scheduled to be released later this year on the 'Ohe Records label). Then a trip to Alaska is in order to tie up loose ends for his December concert there. The hectic schedule doesn't end when the couple returns to the islands. The Keola Aloha Music Camp at Kaupoa Beach is already sold out and the Beamers will also take part in Milton Lau's Slack Key Guitar Festival on June 19. In addition, Keola has been invited to participate in the Maui Writers' Conference, which is being held over Labor Day Weekend. More traveling will follow with a tour in the Southwest in the fall and another CD recording session in preparation for his 2005 tour schedule. Whew! ...

Need a new do? This month's "First Friday" Gallery Walk features the "Art of Hair" 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at J Salon. The evening will begin with owner/stylist Joe Randazzo and his team demonstrating different cuts on models. During the second half of the show, guests will be selected at random to be a "canvas" of art and receive a complimentary cut. This is one art piece that you can take home free of charge. ...

With Maestro Samuel Wong leaving, it was great to see him at work Sunday. The Honolulu Symphony was joined by pianist couple Misha and Cipa Dichter, who played Felix Mendelssohn's Concerto for Two Pianos in E major. The couple has been together for more than 30 years.

What's up with guys and in cell-phone minutes? How did minutes turn into a symbol of affection? Recently I've heard lines like, "What, I'm not worth your cell-phone minutes?" or "See how much you mean to me? I'm using my daytime minutes." ...
