All guest rooms non-smoking at Maui resort

The 758-room Westin Maui Resort & Spa continues to advance its theme of wellness by converting all its guest rooms and suites to nonsmoking. The resort was already nearly 70 percent nonsmoking, but directors believed that with the opening of a new luxury spa facility, the next thing to do was to give all the rooms a make-over.

All guest rooms have undergone a thorough cleaning and transformation.

"We still embrace our guest who smokes," said General Manager Craig Anderson. "We just provide different options for them, such as going out onto their lanai and enjoying their time outdoors."

Ashtrays will be made available only upon request. Most public areas still remain available for smokers.

Located on 12 oceanfront acres on Kaanapali Beach, the Westin Maui Resort & Spa also features lush gardens, 15- to 20-foot waterfalls, an 87,000-square-foot aquatic playground with five pools and a 128-foot water slide, and the $5 million The Spa at The Westin Maui.
