The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.



Hawaiian Air rising


The shares of Hawaiian Airlines' parent rose 15.8 percent to close at their highest level since Feb. 10 in leading 10 other stocks this week in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index.

Hawaiian Holdings Inc. ended yesterday at $4.85, just below its Feb. 10 closing high. Hawaiian Holdings is zeroing in on the $5 level, which it hasn't closed at since Sept. 18, 1997.

Maui Land & Pineapple Co. was the second-best performer as it rose 5.1 percent to $32.77.

Cyanotech Corp. brought up the rear as it fell 3 percent to $1.29.
