PRINTASIA
It's important to select a quality grade photo paper when printing your own pictures.

Printasia papers work
best when printing
digital images

Darkrooms are an endangered species due to the ever-shrinking -- in size and cost -- photo printers from the likes of Epson, H-P and Canon. The small size doesn't mean quality is sacrificed as many of the models are capable of producing nearly darkroom-quality prints from digital media.

But many printer users don't put nearly as much care in choosing their paper, when in fact image quality also is only as good as the paper used.

Remember that ink is expensive, usually costing you more than you paid for the printer in the long run, so it's important to select the photo paper that will accurately reflect the colors you see on your computer screen.

I've tried them all and determined that Ilford's Printasia premium photo papers are excellent, both a pleasure to use and display.

Photo Satin Paper and Photo Glossy Paper come in packs of 20. The glossy comes with a subtle gloss finish. The satin surface is beautiful.

Photo Glossy Greeting Cards come in a 10-sheet pack. Pre-scored sheets measure 8-1/2-by-11 inches, and come with envelopes and easy-to-follow instructions. These are fun for photos for special occasions and messages.

You can also buy packs of 4-by-6-inch photo paper (100 sheets for $13.99) and 8-1/2-by-11-inch Fine Art Matte Paper (10 sheets for $12.99). For those interested in poster-sized works, 20 sheets of 11-by-17-inch paper sells for $24.99, or choose 20 sheets of 13-by-19-inch paper for $27.99.

The papers can be found at CompUSA stores.
