to hold gala

The 15th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (formerly known as The Adam Baran Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Film Festival), presented by the Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation, continues through Sunday at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

It opened last night with a screening of Margaret Cho's latest concert documentary "Revolution." Other notable films include Sundance Festival crowd-pleaser "A Touch of Pink," starring Kyle McLaughlan ("Twin Peaks" and "Sex and the City"), and the award-winning "Eating Out" by Q. Allen Brocka.

As always, the festival includes a free public educational screening on Saturday afternoons. This year, the highly-acclaimed documentary, "Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin," will screen tomorrow. The film focuses on Bayard Rustin, an unapologetic gay African-American man who was Martin Luther King's mentor and a long-time civil rights activist.
