Cho's 'Revolution'
The 15th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (formerly the Adam Baran Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Film Festival) starts at 7:30 p.m. today with a premiere of "Revolution," a documentary starring the irrepressible Margaret Cho, with director-producer Lorene Machado in attendance.
Cho performed the show last year at the Waikiki Shell. The documentary takes footage from her Los Angeles show at the Wiltern Theater.
In "Revolution," Cho returns to the screen with the same no holds-barred humor that infused her previous concert films -- taking on the axis of evil, her travels through Thailand's red-light district, the explosion of childbirth, bartering sex for household chores, revolutionizing one's self-esteem, the joy of bodily functions, her loser ex-boyfriend and, of course, her now world-famous mother.
The festival runs through Sunday at the Honolulu Academy of Arts Doris Duke Theatre. Tickets are $8; $6 for members of the Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation. Visit www.hglcf.org.
Looking for Jesus
Diamond Head Theatre is holding auditions for "Jesus Christ Superstar" at 7 p.m. tomorrow, 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at its rehearsal hall at 520 Makapuu Ave.
Principal roles are Jesus, Judas Iscariot, Mary Magdalene, Pontius Pilate, Herod and Caiaphas. Other roles include the remaining apostles, priests, Roman soldiers, temple guards and other citizens of Jerusalem.
Performers should be prepared to sing a Broadway-style song (bring sheet music in your own key) and dance. Those auditioning for the roles of Jesus, Judas or Mary must be familiar with the score, available at the DHT box office for study on-site.
The production will run from July 16 through Aug. 1. Guest director and choreographer is Andrew Sakaguchi, with musical direction by Melina Lillios. Call 733-0277, ext. 309.

Stellar gems
History was made when Sarah Jessica Parker wore a dainty diamond-studded horseshoe necklace on "Sex and the City," launching a major fashion frenzy for Lizzie Scheck jewelry.
Scheck returns to Neiman Marcus Ala Moana, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday, to show her latest collection of earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets in yellow, rose and white gold. These include a delicate $350 gold-and-diamond apple necklace that a Hollywood exec picked out as a gift to new mommy Gwyneth Paltrow, who dubbed her baby girl Apple.
Scheck's whimsical designs -- both naughty to nice -- are popular with celebrities, who often wear them in layers, like lucky charms. Many measure a petite quarter-inch and range in price from about $375 to $1,500.
Other Scheck designs that have appeared on Hollywood's it girls are the "Moon Star" necklace worn by Scarlett Johansson in the "Lost in Translation," and Britney Spears has often been photographed sporting Scheck's "Handcuffs" necklace.
Genie or jewel genius?
The Rainbow Collection will welcoming the return of jewelry designer Carolyn Tyler with a reception from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the jewelry and gift store on the upper level at Ala Moana Center, near the Mai Tai Bar.
Tyler was an advertising executive before she traveled to Southeast Asia and fell under the spell of Bali, "the Island of the Gods." Four years later, she closed her advertising business and moved to Indonesia, where her jewelry work is inspired by the country's rich traditions.
Rainbow Collection designer Karla Brom compares viewing Tyler's work to "opening Aladdin's treasure chest," because of her opulent colored stones and large South Sea pearls set in 18- to 24-karat gold, in designs inspired by myths and tribal motifs.
Tyler will be in the store from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday. For more information, call 947-8058.
