Join the club

Beginning next month, Kapalua Resort on Maui will be offering free and discounted activities for families' summer fun.

From June 1 through Sept. 30, 2004, children 5 to 16 accompanied by a resort guest adult will be able to join in on Kapalua Keiki Club activities ranging from golf, tennis, and snorkeling, to arts and crafts.

For instance, children can take part in two complimentary golf clinics per week with Kapalua Golf Academy professionals. After practicing their full swing, keiki will be let loose on the Village Course. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a maximum of two keiki can play free with a paying adult resort guest.

At the Art School of Kapalua, a complimentary ceramic session is offered to one keiki per paying adult. Classes run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and reservations are needed.

For more information about the activities, call toll-free, 1-800-KAPALUA (527-2582).

Hyatt chapel opens

Lovebirds looking for a place to exchange vows might check out the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa's new 1,748-square-foot wedding chapel.

The Lokahi Chapel features a circular stained-glass window featuring a waterfall, symbolizing the union of lokahi, where the land and water marry. Barrel-vaulted ceilings create an uplifting aura, and rich details include marble flooring.

The chapel can accommodate 40. Call 808-667-4430.
