Jasmine had a great run,
went out with style
and grace

Jasmine Trias' excellent run on "American Idol" came to a halt this week but the Maryknoll senior went out like a champ, with style and grace. Some say Jasmine should have dropped out earlier because of the bashing she took from the judges, who obviously wanted her out. Ridiculous! Quitting is for losers and Jaz is a winner. I go along with former UH head football coach Larry Price who knows plenty about competition and said, speaking of Jasmine on Perry and Price Wednesday, that you enter a competition to win. Absolutely! That is what Jaz tried to do. She deserves praise for doing her best, never giving up and making a great run ...

He also emceed the event with KHNL anchor Howard Dashefsky. The two redheads filled the room with laughter with their standup routine ...

That is almost as much as what was raised in three previous Fundangos. Hats off to Susan Page, Dan Cook, Carole Kai, Eddie Onouye, Mike Buck, Doug Rigg, Lynne Waters, Allana Coffee, Audra Butera, Gloria Ah Sam, Louise Ing, Dewitt Jones, Lynette Sheppard, Jeff Arce, Tim Bostock, Chanel Bouvier, Colleen McAluney, Mike O'Malley, Lynda Pelayo, Nina Livingston, Vicky Schneider, Lance Segawa, Kelly Galvin, Stacey Acma and Julien Comilang...

The San Francisco Ballet welcomed Ballet Hawaii's officials Pamela Taylor-Tongg, Susie Schull and Judy Muncaster when they recently visited the City by the Bay to see the George Balanchine 100th birthday tribute by the S.F. Ballet. Susie's daughter Amanda Schull was in the cast. The dancers were interested in meeting Pam as they want to be invited to perform here ...
