AARP offers free
seminars on walking


Oahu residents who want to be more active are invited to free AARP Hawaii walking workshops starting May 26 at Kailua District Park.

All the "Start Walking Now" workshops will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a free lunch and materials.

Others will be as follows: June 9, Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center; June 12, HMSA Center on Keeaumoku Street; June 16, McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Beach Park; June 17, Pohai Nani Retirement Home in Kaneohe; June 23, McCoy Pavilion; June 26, YWCA Camp Kokokahi in Kaneohe.

The workshops are part of a statewide "Shape Up Across Hawaii" campaign . Participants will learn how to overcome barriers to fitness, avoid injury, connect with others,use free tools to track progress and stay motivated.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Call 877-926-8300 to register.
